Statistics show that students who participate in music score many points higher on SAT and ACT college entrance exams.
- There are no “starters” or “benchwarmers” in a successful band program – everyone participates!
- Participation in music develops problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Music helps students to develop a sense of self-worth and self-esteem.
- There are many life skills to be learned in band: self-discipline, commitment, self expression, work ethic, and cooperation, among others.
We enjoyed the musical performance this year, as well as last year. Again, I look forward to continued performances.
The video was taken by Ms. Filchak, director of the McDonald Elementary School Choir. Several students were sponsored by PIFMA to participate. PIFMA continues to support the arts in the Georgetown County Schools with sponsorships, scholarships, and outreach on an annual basis.
