School Outreach

More than concerts!

Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art’s mission of bringing the arts to everyone in our community means EVERYONE – including our youngest residents.

Every Year:

PIFMA’s world class artists provide workshops for kids of all ages, from kindergarten to high school.

A Georgetown County high school senior is awarded a scholarship to study visual or graphic arts in college.

Financial Assistance Awards are granted to Georgetown County schools for arts related projects and equipment.  Past award include clarinets for Carvers Bay High School, funding for the new theatre program at Waccamaw High School and more!

Free tickets are provided for low wealth residents, students and seniors – the arts are meant for ALL to enjoy!

And MORE!

Here’s what one Georgetown County High School Principal says about PIFMA’s outreach programs:

I am grateful for the partnership that exists between PIFMA and Carvers Bay High School!

Statistics show that students who participate in music score many points higher on SAT and ACT college entrance exams.

  • There are no “starters” or “benchwarmers” in a successful band program – everyone participates!
  • Participation in music develops problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Music helps students to develop a sense of self-worth and self-esteem.
  • There are many life skills to be learned in band: self-discipline, commitment, self expression, work ethic, and cooperation, among others.

We enjoyed the musical performance this year, as well as last year. Again, I look forward to continued performances.

Dr. Bethany Giles, Principal, Carvers Bay High School

The video was taken by Ms. Filchak, director of the McDonald Elementary School Choir. Several students were sponsored by PIFMA to participate. PIFMA continues to support the arts in the Georgetown County Schools with sponsorships, scholarships, and outreach on an annual basis.
