The Italian tradition of Street painting dates to the 16th century when artists would travel from town to town for religious festivals and transform the streets and public squares into temporary galleries for their works. The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art brings this event to the Lowcountry as a way to teach and promote the history of this lost art to all ages and levels of artists. Chalk Under the Oaks provides a wonderful way for people in the community to share a great experience together.

If you would like to participate in this year’s Chalk Under the Oaks as an artist, download the application and register before September 1, 2017.
