Join us for a rare opportunity to see a very special exhibition of original works by Kathy Metts. A much loved and widely collected artist, Metts lived in Georgetown, South Carolina where she pursued her career as an artist. She was devoted to the arts and loved the Lowcountry, Pawleys Island, and Brookgreen Gardens. Her paintings reflected a sense of humor and excitement for life and family while her exceptional talent and whimsical style made her paintings much sought after during her abbreviated lifetime.
This year the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art has decided to establish THE KATHRYN B. METTS VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP which will provide funds for a Visual Arts student from either Alamance County, NC, or Georgetown County, SC, to pursue a major in Fine Arts and Painting at the College or Graduate School level. This will be a merit based scholarship. To kick off this Scholarship Fund, The Cheryl Newby Gallery will present an exhibition of twenty paintings by Kathy Metts. All paintings in the exhibit will be on loan from private collections.
