Sam Bush Kicks Off 2008 Festival on September 12!

The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art is pleased to announce that Sam Bush, one of the foremost innovators in modern acoustic music, will be performing live on Friday evening, September 12, 2008. Hailed as the “King of Newgrass” by fans and media alike, Bush played an integral role in changing the face of bluegrass music as a founding member of New Grass Revival. He has continued to forge new ground in his solo career, recording five studio albums (four for Sugar Hill) as well as Ice Caps: Live From Telluride. The fact that Ice Caps is Bush’s biggest seller speaks volumes to the power of his live performance. Bush has a knack for working festival crowds into a frenzy making him a commodity the most prestigious events can’t live without. Don't miss it!

Barrage Takes Pawleys Island By Storm!

Barrage is a world famous contemporary string ensemble offering a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The music of Barrage continues to evolve-combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The young hip cast delivers the show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity that will take your breath away.

Long Bay Symphony Returns

Made In America - A Musical Celebration. Experience some of the most prominent compositional voices in America's symphonic tradition. George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, featuring Philip Powell, will serve as the centerpiece for this program. Grounds will open at 6:00pm for this table event with the symphony performing at 7:00 pm. You must call the festival office to reserve your table at 843-237-4774. Start planning those picnic table decorations now for the ever-popular Picnic Judging Contest.

Festival Celebrates 18th Season!

Welcome to the 2008 Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art! We are now celebrating our 18th season and look forward to another beautiful autumn with many exciting performances to offer you. Our 2008 line-up promises to be one of our best. Thank you to our corporate sponsors and our individual givers and advertisers, who make it possible for our Festival to continue to grow! And thank you to our many volunteers who have spent untold hours of their time and their energy. We are looking forward to seeing all of you!
